| Notes |
Variously spelled Crosdal, Crosdall, Crosdale, Croasdale. In Roger Pye's original papers, Isabel is described as Isabel Crosdall 'of ye Castle Chapel of Clithero' in the parish register of Whalley. She was the sister of Edward Crosdal of ' Whitewell within ye Castle parish of Clitheroe' and daughter of Edward Croasdale of Lower Fence in Little Bowland, the lease of which she inherited under his will dated 17 Jan 1744, proved 1 Aug 1744.
The Castle Chapel was the parish church of the castle demesne and forests but was transferred to the Abbot of Whalley by John of Gaunt.
After her husband's death she moved to Lower Fence Farm, Whitwell. |
